Mercedes-Benz Service Tips: Saving on Fuel Costs

April 20th, 2022 by

Tired of watching the numbers climb at the gas pump? Our Mercedes-Benz service technicians at Keyes European have a few helpful tips to help you save on fuel costs.

Limit Excessive Idling

A vehicle is considering idling anytime it is left running unnecessarily while it’s stopped. This also includes warming up your vehicle. It’s actually better to warm up your car by simply driving it. Plus, idling uses up to a half a gallon of fuel per hour. It wastes more gas to idle for 30 seconds than to simply restart the engine.

Inspect Your Tires

Keeping an eye on your tires is important for your safety, but also helpful for your fuel efficiency too. When your tires aren’t properly inflated it can decrease your gas mileage. Double-check in your owner’s manual to see the recommended PSI (pound per square inch) for your vehicle’s tires.

Get Routine Maintenance

Routine maintenance is also an important part of caring for your vehicle. It can help improve your fuel economy as well. There are a number of maintenance tasks that can help. Regularly replacing your engine oil and filters is important. Maintenance also includes a meticulous inspection of your vehicle so our trained technicians can spot (and correct) efficiency-draining issues with your vehicle as well.

Consider a Hybrid Vehicle

Looking for serious savings at the pump? Consider a hybrid or all-electric Mercedes-Benz car or SUV. They can significantly increase your fuel efficiency or even allow you to drive by simply using electric power alone. There are a number of hybrid vehicles to choose from, or you can opt for the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan.
