AMG® Petronas: The Season So Far

Mercedes-AMG® models come from a long and impressive history of vehicles engineered for – and proven on – the track. We always monitor the goings-on at AMG® Petronas, partly because they’re our “home” team and partly because their cars’ innovations often find their way into models at the Keyes European showroom. Today, we’re looking at the team’s performance in the 2024 season thus far.

Lewis Hamilton Continues His Winning Ways

Lewis Hamilton’s place in racing history was assured long before this year, but his legacy grows more formidable with every passing race. This year at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Hamilton brought home the 104^th win of his career — and that’s not all. His ninth British Grand Prix victory is the most by a driver at a single Grand Prix in the sport’s history. Furthermore, he has stood on the podium over 200 times, the first driver to ever do so.

Progress in Formula 2

Formula 2 is also impressive, thanks to the tireless efforts of Kimi Antonelli and Doriane Pin. Antonelli won his first at the Silverstone Sprint race and claimed a first Feature Race victory. Pin has taken two poles in her own right.

Looking Ahead to a Stellar Finish

While it may have taken the team a moment to catch their breath at the start of the season, there’s no denying that victory is on the mind now. They currently stand at 170 points, with six podium spots and three wins. They also hold two pole positions, with Lewis continuing to outscore others on the field.
