Inspections

Because an EV lacks a gasoline engine, there are fewer moving parts to wear out and less to maintain. Even standard systems and Mercedes-Benz parts are often simpler; you won’t find a one-speed transmission in a Mercedes-AMG® GLE 43, for instance. While the service intervals may be longer, it is still recommended to have critical systems inspected between times to ensure everything is operating as it should.

Fluids

While there’s no engine, coolant is still vital in EVs. The battery pack, electric motors, and other systems require protection. A routine inspection to check for leaks and fluid condition will be followed by coolant replenishment as needed.

Battery and Electrical System Check

Like the other vehicles at our Mercedes-Benz dealership in Van Nuys, the EQS has a wet-cell battery. This powers many interior systems while a larger lithium-ion battery powers the vehicle’s electric motors. Both batteries require inspection, during which we will ensure no undue wear and that the rechargeable battery is cycling properly for long service life.

Brake Service

Mercedes-Benz EVs use regenerative braking, where the electric motors aid in stopping the vehicle. This reduces wear and prolongs brake life, but your brakes will still require inspection, calibration, and occasional replacement of parts that have become worn with use.

In a few respects, there are consumable parts in EVs that require the same care as in any other vehicle. These include:
