Head To Head: 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2019 Acura TLX
Keyes European amounts to a one-stop shop for Los Angeles area luxury car shoppers. From our extensive inventory, exhaustive parts selection, and expert service, we take good care of you. That’s true whether you bought your new Mercedes-Benz car a decade ago, or if you’re still in the early stages of your car shopping, comparing our 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class to a competitor like the 2019 Acura TLX.
2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
We begin with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which arrives redesigned from tip to tail. Outside, you’ll notice a striking front fascia set off by sporty new wheels, and complemented by new LED head and tail lights. Under the hood sits a more powerful engine, while inside there are new upholstery options, optional new instrument display, and a retooled center stack with next-generation COMAND® infotainment. Each of three body styles (sedan, cabriolet, and coupe) can be had with either RWD or 4MATIC® AWD, and comes with some additional active safety features like Active Brake Assist and Active Lane Change Assist.
2019 Acura TLX
The 2019 Acura TLX isn’t all-new, but it’s not far off; the car was redesigned last year, and this year it expands the availability of its A-Spec trim, tacks on some new color options, and adds 19-inch wheels.
Safety features are comparable between the Acura and Mercedes-Benz models, but they also diverge in some interesting ways. While there are two engines available, the smaller of the two has a noticeable dip in horsepower, and cannot be combined with the company’s SH-AWD system, and that AWD really performs its best with the upgraded suspension in the A-Spec trim.
There’s something else we haven’t mentioned yet that shifts the balance decisively to the Mercedes-Benz brand, and it can be summed up in three letters: AMG®, the company’s in-house performance tuners. The Mercedes-AMG variants on the C-Class have no analog at Acura, giving you bespoke design, suspension, chassis, and steering. You can see more at your Mercedes-Benz dealership near Beverly Hills.
We respect our competition. They keep us on our toes, after all. But in this particular matchup, we find that the 2019 Acura TLX doesn’t hit quite the same high notes on technology, comfort, or performance as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Come to Keyes European, conveniently located at 5400 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA, to test drive this or any other new Mercedes-Benz model.
